mark founded the Protocol design agency in 2007 based on the simple idea that ‘good enough’ is never good enough. always striving for world-class design solutions, he combines an insatiable curiosity with deep research to gain insights into people’s true needs and behaviors. in addition, his obsession with brand building ensures that all product solutions fit perfectly within a larger narrative, telling a story about each company’s values and outlook.

mark originally moved to new york city in 1999 to get a masters in industrial design at the prestigious pratt institute in brooklyn. while his original intent was to move elsewhere after graduation, he quickly fell in love with the creative energy that was emanating from practically every surface and never left! nearly 25 years on, he now lives in the neighborhood of bed-stuy with his wife and two kids, taking every opportunity he can to see live music and continue soaking up the inspiration from this amazing place!
